Project Description

I titled this genre painting, “Due,” because it means “two” in Italian. We were seated at a trattoria, near the Coliseum. I noticed a bride and groom getting on and then quickly off a bus while being filmed by their videographer. It was a Sunday in Rome and we had seen bridal couples all over the city being photographed in front of monuments and doing fun things. The wedding albums and videos of Roman couples must be fabulous! “Due” alludes to the bride and groom and also the order being placed by the woman at the table in front of us. I loved painting all the people in the scene. It was definitely a “slice of life.”
