Project Description
This painting of Siena brings back memories of a marvelous trip to Italy. It was the end of the day and we were leaving beautiful Siena. I saw these homes on the hill, all clustered together, and quickly snapped a photo. They were in an interesting pattern which appealed to me from a design standpoint. Years later I decided to paint the scene. It was very interesting to see all the detail I had missed when snapping the photo. You don’t really know something until you draw or paint it. That’s one of the reasons I love to paint. I get absorbed by the details of the painting and forget everything else. Very much a meditation. I’d love to go back, take more photos, and create another painting of Siena!
